Dance surrounds society in animistic forms. It is passionate, it is intimate, and most of all, it is transitory. I use this temporal medium to respond to social, political, and other artistic phenomena in my choreographic work. I welcome the human and reject the pedestrian. Dance transforms from a personal practice to a performing art with an audience and thus, I believe in the power of the relationship between performer and audience.
When choreographing, I strive to make a connection with my audience. One way I do this is by employing and fusing Forsythe Improvisation Technologies with classical vocabulary and technique. Additionally, I modify, abstract and separate this vocabulary until it is something uniquely me. It is my primary objective in everything I create.
I do not consider myself a performing artist- but rather an artist. In addition to choreography, I also enjoy creating and painting ceramics, sewing, and designing lights for stage.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my website! I look forward to hearing from you.
